Athletes for Heroes Program

Athletes for Heroes, was created in 2011 with the hope of increasing confidence, instilling pride and providing an opportunity to experience the camaraderie and championship of being a member of a team. Athletes from New York, Miami, and Boston have set aside their rivalries and continue to team up for the Athletes for Heroes charity. Kevin Youkilis of the New York Yankees has worked closely with Wes Welker of the Denver Broncos, Shawn Thornton of the Boston Bruins, Taylor Twellman who has since retired from the New England Revolution, and Ray Allen of the Miami Heat, to create an initiative to help aid families who have lost loved ones in the line of duty or while saving the life of another.  Athletes for Heroes provides funds for both athletic activities and academic support for children who have lost a parent or had a parent severely injured in the line of duty.
