On Thursday, January 26th, Youk’s Kids hosted their second annual Not Your Average Idol event, once again held at the exquisite State Room in Boston. The evening was hosted by Chelsea Lately stars Sarah Colonna and Josh Wolf and included a live performance from platinum-selling recording artist, Gavin DeGraw! AHMIR, Ayla Brown, and Will Dailey also took the stage.
Guests enjoyed one -of -a -kind tasting menus from 12 of Boston’s best restaurants, as well as signature cocktails. Celebrity guests included new Boston Red Sox manager, Bobby Valentine, Massachusetts Senator Scott Brown, former New England Patriots player Jermaine Wiggins, Boston Red Sox legend Luis Tiant, and former New England Revolution star Taylor Twellman.
With the support of donors and friends, the funds raised at Not Your Average Idol will help to continue bridging the gap for all of Youk’s Kids.
On February 3, 2011, Youk's Kids hosted its first signature event in Boston with Not Your Average Idol. This event helped launch Youk's Kids new initiative, Athletes for Heroes.
Held at the exquisite State Room, 600 guests had an amazing view of the city 30 stories above ground level. The stage was lit up by performances from Boston favorite Dropkick Murphys, American Idol finalist John Stevens, Acapella sensation AHMIR, and hip hop duo The Goonies. All attendees had the opportunity to try food from ten different restaurants including Ming Tsai's Blue Ginger, Ken Oringer's Toro, Eastern Standard, Island Creek Oyster and more.
Stars on the guest list included Cetlics great Ray Allen, NBA star Rick Fox and actress Eliza Dushku, comedians Lenny Clarke and Tony V., and New England Revolution legend Taylor Twellman. Senator Scott Brown and Senator John Kerry co-chaired this event.
This evening of music and comedy helped raise $300,000 to launch Athletes for Heroes.
