Thank You Red Sox Nation

It is with mixed emotions that I write this. Boston has been my home and the home of my charity. I want to assure all of you that it is my intent to continue with Youk’s Kids. The headquarters for Youk’s Kids will remain in Boston as will the fundraising effort under the direction of my Board of Directors and Staff.

As most of you know I launched a new arm of my charity in January of 2011, “Athletes for Heroes”. I knew that as I neared the end of my contract in Boston the charity under this new arm could be rolled out nationally thereby assisting even more children in need. I recently have asked Shawn Thornton to come on board with the charity in a more prominent role and he has agreed.

To date my charity has raised over 3 million and helped thousands of children in need since its inception in 2007. With the new arm of the charity, “Athletes for Heroes” we have also helped children of our heroes, fallen police, fire, military and average every day heroes. I look forward to continuing down this philanthropic path no matter where I am or what stage of my career I am at. I hope that you will all continue to be supporters of Youk's Kids.

I will be back for my next “Idol” event Thursday December 6, 2012 at the Royale in Boston and look forward to seeing you all there.

Thank you all for your personal and philanthropic support. It has been a great run!

  1. I don't think I have ever written a blind note like this that may or may not ever be read but here it goes:
Playing in Boston must be hard. Don't hold it against the fans. Hold it against the media. Youk, you were loved -- are loved -- for what you did in Boston on and off the field. Best wishes in Chicago. I wish they found a deal that would have sent you to CIncy! Scott Rolen is ready to play less and has no ego about it -- would have been a great fit.
